20.03.24, ... on the occasion of world happiness day

In the land of the Dragon King, Bhutan we praise,

On the eve of Happiness Day, our voices we raise.

A new holiday born, with joy at its core,

Guided by happiness, what we earnestly adore.

Denmark, in contrast, bows to GDP's might,

A holiday forsaken, in consumption's bright light.

Yet Bhutan cherishes what truly matters most,

Gross National Happiness, their foremost boast.

Globally, we've settled for less, embracing the base,

Leaders not leading, but in a disgraceful chase.

Wars, fanaticism, a social media craze,

Our planet suffers, in a destructive haze.

But from Bhutan's land, a glimmer ignites,

A beacon of hope, in the darkest of nights.

Happiness in simplicity, in caring and being there,

For family, for nature, a world that is rare.

Happiness is simplicity

Yet, the dream is fleeting, a rude awakening we face,

Back to a reality, where we all share the disgrace.

Bhutan's happiness index, a melody so sweet,

Against humanity's discord, a feat hard to beat.

We're on the Titanic, with the iceberg hit,

Sinking deep, by our own hands, bit by bit.

Yet Bhutan stands out, with foresight so bright,

In a world dim with shortsightedness, they're a light.

So, let's give an ovation, to Bhutan's wise way,

Mourning our failures, as we continue to stray.

Their initiative and insight, a path so divine,

In a world heading towards its decline.

Let this poem be a tribute, to a nation so small,

Whose lessons of happiness, should inspire us all.

For in Bhutan's example, a truth we can find,

The happiness of all, the greatest wealth mankind.

Sinking by our own hands
